The Universe is a strange place......
A little Life Philosophy
The Universe is a strange place. We go about our lives, every day, completely unaware of how very strange it really is. Beginning the day we are born, most of us learn to live in the world we see, hear, touch and feel. We earn a living, we live our everyday lives, and we instinctively deal with the world.. We don’t realise it, but it seems we are only dealing with the merest fraction of what is really going on. Our World is much, much, more than the little of which we are aware.
If you read your physics, you’ll know we’re pretty sure know how the Universe began, and much of how it got to be the way it is. What we don’t know, is why it began, and why it’s turning out the way it is. Quantum Theory, though, seems to be telling us we humans are a very important part of it. We seem to have evolved to fit almost perfectly into this world. The Theory of Evolution teaches us, of course, we should expect that. Maybe, though, just maybe, this world, that is to say, the Universe, has evolved to fit us, us human beings, almost perfectly too.
The older I get, and the more I know about life, the Universe and everything, oddly, the less I understand of all this ‘life’ business. What I am beginning to see now, though, is a series of interconnected threads in my life. Fragmentary memories, pictures in my mind, odd events, little coincidences, most of which meant nothing much at the time, except that, now, it seems, they were important, important enough to stay with me a lifetime, as if they were waiting for a time to become significant.
I am beginning to feel that my life has evolved in the way it has, to show me something, something I somehow missed previously, in the hurly burly of everyday life. I think the album, 'FairyTale' is meant to be a new beginning for me. I wrote and recorded it at a time of deep personal unhappiness, mainly to help a friend, who was also deeply unhappy in her life, but it has also helped me, in many, many ways.
The record was made with very basic equipment and not much more than little ability with words, music and the old Guitar I play. I made it in this way, quite deliberately, to show that anyone, anyone who loves music, life, their family and their friends could do it, and change their life for the better. These are simple songs, written with love. I want everyone in this world to be happier, and this is part of my contribution. I have come to understand that anyone who wants to achieve something, to be more than they are, can become what they really want to be.
Most of us think of ourselves as powerless to change our lives, that life ‘just happens’. For a long time in my life I was just ‘lost,’ somehow. Well, I found myself. I now believe that all we have to do is free our minds from the every day constraints we place them under, and empower ourselves. It really is true, we can empower ourselves. We don’t have to wait for someone else to do it, we can do it for ourselves, and we should. Why? Because the Universe is a bigger, better place than it seems. If we look for it, we can see the evidence in our own lives, in the little everyday coincidences and clues that some benevolent force is giving us. We are being helped. Yes, the Universe is a very strange place, and despite everything we complain about, and all that is wrong with the world and our lives in it, we can become more than we are, and we should. We owe it to those we love, and the mysterious forces out there that help us, to get on and just do it.
Travel happily and well,
Sincerely,
